First Friday December Wrap Up

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

First Friday Scranton closed out 2008, last week, with a great art walk around the downtown full of music, art and holiday cheer.

This was First Friday Scranton’s best year ever with each month’s event building upon the last. We saw greater numbers of artists, musicians, venues and art-lovers interested in taking part in First Friday events than ever before.

We also unveiled the new Friends of First Friday discount card this month. For more information on the card and how you can purchase one for yourself or as a gift, visit the Friends of First Friday page. First Friday Scranton takes a break during the month of January but we’ll be back in February 2009 with more music, art and culture from the heart of the Electric City.

More First Friday: Each month there are some local events happening on First Friday that - because they fall outside the downtown footprint or were not submitted to us in time - cannot be included on the map. We will strive to make note of those events on the website so be sure to check back before you head out for First Friday.

This month, OnePoint Commercial Design & Furnishings, 101 Pittston Ave., Scranton, will host “Spectacular Landscapes,” oil on canvas by William D. Hobbs. Note that the trolley will not stop at this venue; If you would like to visit this venue, it will be your responsibility to find transportation here.

The Electric City Tattoo Gallery, 620 Spruce St., will feature the photography of Amanda Makala, Pete Boychuck, Emily Walsh and Ashley Gries.
