A Fluid Perspective

Published: October 23, 2013

Following in the footsteps in a number of excellent exhibits this past year The Scranton Cultural Center – Shopland Hall (4th Floor) will be exhibiting Retrospective: Renee Emanuel; music by Merchants Of Groove.
Renee’s drive to paint has spurred on through countless iterations in the medium of watercolor.  In her own words:

“Whether it’s the tapestry of the natural world that calls me, or the beautiful patterns and relationships that I find in still life, I believe that only the images created in stillness can be transformed by that experience into something new. I feel that it’s a starting place that gives me an endless territory to explore and offers a new direction to aim. It keeps me painting, “still” after all these years.”

Accompanying the exhibit will be a musical performance by Merchants Of Groove, a blues and rhythm and blues band featuring Paul Lyon, Teddy Young, Sandy Beecher, Mike Basalyga, and Rob Fenstermaker. The Merchants of Groove Blues Reunion plays a wide variety of originals and blues classics by such artists as the three Kings – B.B., Albert and Freddie – Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Robert Johnson, Elmore James, Lazy Lester, Johnny Copeland, Edddie Kirkland, Albert Collins, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Jimmy Reed, Magic Sam, Guitar Slim and many others.
