Wrapping Up First Friday Scranton January 3, 2014

Published: January 26, 2014

Here we are embarking on another year of First Friday Scranton and the second year of our foray with First Friday being a year-round event from January to December. Not bad for an independent organization run by volunteers. Of course for January we had another special “gust” join us – old man winter. Seems like he’s still around and with his new pal Mr. Polar Vortex. Cold, yes; inhospitable, debatable. There might not have been an enormous conflagration to warm yourself by, but no worries, most found some relief in a First Friday venue where they could cozy up to imaginative scrawlings.  All you had to do was place your thumb down on the area of Lackawanna Avenue by Renaissance 500 and you were sure to be entertained while elsewhere the artwork at the select venues open for January welcomed guests and patrons with groovy tunes and inventive compositions. Of course if you’re waiting for winter’s scrapings to depart you’ll have to be patient and while you wait make sure to look closely or you’ll miss February’s First Friday offerings.
